ICE-ing the 2026 Election in Public Square
Only we can protect our communities

It’s my birthday month. Consider joining me in supporting UNRWA
DonateWe must plan for the fact that in 2028, Trump will try to cling to power. Legally by refusing to relinquish control of the Republican Party, or illegally, by trying to run again, rig or stop the election, or refuse to leave the White House. But at the same time, the 2026 election is likely the end of Donald Trump’s political career. His ineptitude, cruelty, and graft make it more an more likely that not only will his party lose the House, an expected midterm outcome, but may also lose the Senate, something that would have seemed nearly impossible heading into the 2024 election.
Trump, likely has nothing but pudding where his brain used to be, but his closest cabal of immoral fascists understand this, and realize that the 2028 election doesn’t matter, at least not yet. Rather it’s 2026 that they need to concern themselves with.
I initially was worried about writing this piece, as I was hesitant to give the morons good ideas. These ChatGPT intellectuals couldn’t find their way out of a paper bag, so why help them. But then I realized, it’s not about what Trump and his lackeys do to try and interrupt the 2026 election. It’s what we, the people, in our communities, do to respond.
Not our elected officials, not our state and local police forces, us. No one is coming to save us. We must learn from Minnesota, Chicago, Los Angeles, how to stand up for our communities. I appreciate the first person who reviewed this piece really stressing this point. We must be ready to coordinate, share information, dispel propaganda. That kind of organizing requires time and relationship building. So we must get started, ASAP. So this piece is a call to action, how will we protect our polling sites, how will we pressure election officials to take this seriously and prepare.
How will we ensure that the election is a fair barometer of a failed Presidency, lead by a small man, who tried, and failed, to divide us from our neighbors?
Our country has a long history of people dying for demanding or daring to try to exercise their right to vote. Congressional Democrats clearly have no plan to stop ICE from committing whatever violence they choose, wherever they choose to inflict it.
So it will require the rest of us, the regular folks, to stand up, just as we have in Los Angeles, Chicago, and Minnesota. State and County Democratic Party Democratic Committees should be game planning with local officials, their members, and their communities. It’s not a question of if ICE and CBP will try to interfere on Election Day. It’s a question of whether communities can out-organize them.
