I hadn’t written this up ahead of time so what follows is my transcription of what I said live at the People’s Organization for Progress’ April 4, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr March. I intend to write more on this.

Somebody mentioned the Attorney General, Matt Platkin, referencing Letters from a Birmingham Jail. That is the piece of writing that talks about the most dangerous force being white moderates.

Our Attorney General is a white moderate. Governor Murphy is a white moderate. Speaker Coughlin and Senate President Scutari are white moderates.

They're not trying to solve all the problems that people have brought up here. They're passing bills to make it easier for them to raise money, to reduce investigations into their fundraising, while they sit on the CCRB bill, while they sit on the police records bill.

Those people who are quoting Dr. King's Letters are the same people he was talking about, and they either don't see that, or they don't want to see that.

I want to say thank you to everyone who came out tonight, thank you for the chance to speak. And we have to hold all those white moderates in the State House, the in state government and in local governments accountable for what they're not doing as much as what they are doing.
